Court-admissible evidence for AI-influenced decisions

When the AI's output shows up in court, the record either holds or it doesn't.

Chive produces signed JSON evidence records for AI-influenced decisions in regulated industries — built to satisfy FRE 902(13) self-authentication and California's parallel evidentiary framework under Cal. Evid. Code §§ 1552–1553, with bar-credentialed certification.

California redrew the AI civil-liability map. The surviving defenses are evidence-dependent.

Three California statutes — now in force — converted AI deployment from a strategic posture question into a documentary one. Every regulated decision an AI participates in is exposed to a record that either supports a defense or does not exist.

Pressure Layer 1
AB 316
Cal. Civ. Code § 1714.46. The autonomous-AI defense — "the AI did it" — is barred by statute. Causation and comparative-fault defenses remain, both evidence-dependent.
In force · Jan 1, 2026
Pressure Layer 2
SB 1120
Cal. Ins. Code § 10123.135(j). Physician oversight of AI medical-necessity determinations for health insurers and UR vendors. Second-cycle audits now active.
In force · Jan 1, 2025
Pressure Layer 3
Bulletin 2022-5
California Department of Insurance universal AI bulletin. Data-source certification and governance-attestation requirements for all admitted carriers.
In force · Jun 2022

A signed JSON evidence record — purpose-built for the surviving defenses.

Chive's primary artifact is the NAAL Evidence Record (NER): a cryptographically signed, contemporaneous record of an AI-influenced decision, structured for evidentiary admissibility from creation.

Every NER carries a contemporaneous attestation from the qualified human who reviewed the AI output and made the decision — built into the record at creation, not added later. When a record is needed in court or before a regulator, Chive's certification framework authenticates the recording infrastructure under FRE 902(13) and Cal. Evid. Code §§ 1552–1553. AI platforms record activity. Chive records evidence. Chive is your flight recorder.

The technical specification is in active development with California-licensed counsel. A public version of the specification will be released after first paying customers.
